Robot city is here
Odense is best-known as the place where Denmark’s final Viking King, Canute was killed in the 11th Century. Odense is also the home of more than 150 robot, drone, and automation companies. Odense is known for its collaborative robots (cobots), which are designed to collaborate with humans in industrial settings.
Odense’s robots success is rooted in the traditional shipbuilding industry. During 1990s, Maersk Shipping funded the Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller Institute. This center was dedicated to autonomous system and attracted students who were interested in robotics. There are some challenges in being located in the city of Copenhagen, which is the third largest in Denmark but unquestionably the smallest on a global scale. The full story is available.

Africa’s AI strategy

Africa has not yet fully adopted AI technology. Researchers say that Africa is well-suited to AI technologies for a number of reasons. These include a young, educated population and a growing ecosystem of AI startup companies.
Despite the many obstacles, efforts to create AI tools for Africans are still hampered by a lack of funding and infrastructure. Inadequate funding and poor infrastructure are the biggest obstacles. A lack of data centers and limited internet connectivity could also prevent developers from deploying cutting edge AI. This is further complicated by the lack of policies and strategies that can be used to harness AI’s benefits, as well as regulate its negative effects.
Researchers worry that these problems, taken together, will hinder Africa’s AI industry and its efforts to forge its own path in the global AI competition. Click here to read the complete story.
