She has more than forty years of experience in the field and is credited with a successful career in strategic leadership. Dr. Campbell’s success comes from her ability to make a positive contribution in healthcare through her expertise. She is also the Chief Visionary officer and President of Peripatetic Productions dba Candy Campbell & Company. This company was founded in 1995. She works alongside industry leaders in order to generate positive changes within the system. This includes providing keynotes and workshops in-person and virtually, as well as individual coaching. She has been a legal nurse expert in the field of women’s and neonatology since 2003.
Since 2008, Dr. Campbell is a member of SAG-AFTRA, a union for professional actors and voiceover artists. She also works in the health-care field. She also works as a theatre talent for The Wayne Agency with offices in Los Angeles and Atlanta. Her previous experience includes working as a commercial artist for Boom M&T Agency between 1993 and 2019; she also co-founded in San Francisco Bay Area in 1993 the Barely insane Players, a stand-up and improv comedy group. Since 1995, she has been teaching applied improvisation workshops and retreats.
She has performed in three solo shows. “Whatever Happened to MY Paradigm?” “Full Frontal Nursing: A Comedy With Dark Spots,” The recent “Florence Nightingale: The Reluctant Celebrity,” This play has been performed in 11 States and 3 Countries.
Before embarking on the current path Dr. Campbell received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communications from University of Puget Sound with a focus in Theatre/Acting, and he minored in Education in 1970. In 1971, she began working as a public relations and flight attendant for Pan American World Airways. She earned her Associate of Arts at El Camino College to become a registered nurse in 1979 after feeling the “call to be an nurse.” From 1999 to 2001, she studied Film and Media Production in Diablo Valley College. She then received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Loyola University New Orleans in 2008. In 2010, she earned a Masters of Science degree with a focus on Healthcare Systems Management and Public Policy. 2014: She completed a Doctor of Nursing Practice in Leadership, Communication and Public Policy at the University of San Francisco. In 2014, she also earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree in Leadership, Communication, and Public Policy at the University of San Francisco.
In 1979 she began her professional career as a registered nurse and clinical educator. She became the Program Nursing Educator of the Northern California Newborn Hearing Screening Program of the California Department of Children’s Health in 2005. During that time, Campbell evaluated and certified 120 hospitals in northern CA. She was an adjunct professor at California State University from 2010 to 2012, and worked as a nurse with John Muir Health between 1992 and 2012. From 2010-2019, she was also an Assistant Professor at the University of San Francisco’s School of Nursing and Health Professions. She then served as President and CEO of Lead4Excellence – a healthcare education consulting firm – from 2020-2021.
In 2010, Dr. Campbell was awarded an Advocacy Fellowship by the American Nurses Association. She also served as a member of the United Nations Global Health Advisory Council of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing from 2011 to 2012.
Meanwhile, she served on the American Nurses Association/California Chapter as a healthcare advocate, speaker, and Legislative team analyst from 2005-2019 and was elected to the ANA Membership Assembly, Wash. DC several times as a representative of nurses in the state of California.
She served as a member of Options for Women, a crisis pregnancy center in California from 2011 to 2017, and as a board member of Women’s Health Advisory Board for California in 2017-2018. In 2015, she was also inducted into the National Academies of Practice as a fellow.
Campbell has also contributed her knowledge as Dean of Speaker’s School, and President of Northern California Chapter of National Speakers Association. In 2019, when she relocated to the East Coast, she was the Associate Dean at the Speaker’s School Washington, D.C. Chapter until 2022.
She is well-qualified in all aspects of her career. Dr. Campbell holds a certificate in professional speaking from the NSA Speakers Academy and has been certified by the ACT Conservatory in acting. She has been a certified nurse leader with the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, a California State Board of Registered Nurses Certified Educational Provider and also worked as a legal nurse consultant. She earned her Certificate of Virtual Presenter in 2020.
Dr. Campbell’s career has seen her contribute a lot of research in both theatre and nursing. Her theatrical talent and her knowledge of healthcare combine to give her a unique view in both areas. She served as the Media Spokesperson of The March of Dimes Northern California, 2009-2012 and was a member of John Muir Health Systems Speaker’s Bureau from 2008-2012. In 2018, she was inducted in The Nightingale Society of Research Historians.

Campbell, a fine painter, honed the skills of her paintings over many years, in both traditional art classes, as well as private tuition with some internationally-known figurative artists. These included Edward Runci. Richard Heichberger. Ted Goerschner. Denise Burns. F. Reese. She has had her work displayed in West Coast galleries and been recognized by local, regional and international art juries.
