The research of Dr. Sinha has resulted in numerous publications, which have made a significant contribution to the fields of parasitology and genomics.
BELMONT MA, JULY 25, 2025 — Amit sinha was selected to be included in Marquis Who’s Who. In all Marquis Who’s Who volumes, the individuals featured are chosen based on their current value. Selection is based on factors such as visibility, prominence, notable accomplishments and position in the field.
Dr. Sinha has made significant contributions to New England Biolabs since 2017, where he is an accomplished research scientist with a specialization in parasitology and genomics. In 2020, after initially joining as a researcher postdoctoral at the company, Dr. Sinha transitioned to a permanent position. Ses research focuses on neglected diseases in tropical regions. He uses bioinformatics to analyse large genomics datasets to find diagnostic biomarkers as well as potential therapeutic targets. He supervises summer and PhD students as well as postdoctoral and research fellows. This fosters an atmosphere of innovation and learning.
Prior to his appointment at New England Biolabs Dr. Sinha developed his skills as a researcher postdoctoral at the University of Massachusetts from 2013-2017. In this time, he conducted research that laid the foundation for his current interest in using computational biology to study the biology of parasites. He completed his PhD studies in 2012 at the Max Planck Institute for Developmental Biology, Tubingen in Germany.
The academic achievements of Dr. Sinha are outstanding. He earned a Master of Technology degree in biological sciences, bioengineering, and a Bachelor of Technology degree in materials and metallurgical technology from the Indian Institute of Technology (Kanpur) before moving to the United States. Before beginning his academic career, Dr. Sinha worked as a software developer at Infosys for a short time in 2002 and 2003.
Sinha credits his overall success to his curiosity and broad-ranging scientific interest. In his view, it is important to stay up-to-date with global health issues and policy changes. He is committed to innovation and closely monitors emerging technologies such as genome-sequencing and advanced computational methods for biology to stay at the forefront of his field.
As well as his achievements in science, Dr. Sinha also actively participates in it. He is a member of both the American Society for Tropical Medicine and Hygiene and Genetics Society of America. As a reviewer for several scientific journals, Dr. Sinha’s commitment to the advancement of scientific knowledge can be seen in his work.
Sinha has published numerous papers that significantly contribute to the fields of parasitology and genomics. Some of his notable works are the successful development and testing diagnostic tests to diagnose diseases like Mpox and parasitic infections from nematode parasites. He also assembled parasite genomes and microbiome using high-throughput sequencing and metagenomics. A new research tool that he has developed to identify viruses from disease vectors such as deer ticks will revolutionize how we detect and treat diseases.
Sinha also enjoys non-fiction and popular science. In addition to hiking New England’s beautiful trails, he enjoys spending time with family. He hopes to grow his research team and contribute to the neglected tropical diseases research in the coming years. This aligns with his own goals as well as the New England Biolabs mission.
